Erick Helmeczi

PhD Candidate, Chemical Biology

Education:

  1. Erick obtained his Honours B.Sc. (Chemistry, Co-op Option, 2017) in the Department of Chemistry at Brock University

Biography:

Research Interests

Erick’s research focuses on developing high throughput capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry methodologies with extended metabolite coverage using chemical derivatization. His current work is focused on screening blood samples for vitamin D deficiency using a selective Diels-Alder derivatization to improve electrospray ionization for mass spectrometry detection. Additionally, Erick has explored the use of a nanoflow electrospray source to allow for low ng/mL detection of fentanyl in urine samples.
