Research Interests

Mai is focusing on metabolomics of chronic digestive disorders; Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBDs). Her goal is to better understand the disease etiology and treatment effects through urinary and stool metabolome of patients. The projects involve integration of microbiome data into metabolomics data, which necessitates utilization of bioinformatics tools in R. She enjoys developing tools for data pre-processing and playing with R to visualize data effectively.
